Below is a selection of some of the best restaurants in Inverness all of which are excellent places to eat in Inverness and cater for all tastes and budgets. Each one has a great menu and and they all focus on using fresh, local and seasonal ingredients.

Johnny Foxes Pub Restaurant - As well as being a high quality Inverness pub they also serve a selection of fine international food served all day, from Thai, French and Italian through to traditional Scottish and Irish fare - plus daily specials. This is our particular favourite!!

Abstract - Named a Rising Star in the latest edition of the Michelin Guide, they serve superb modern French cuisine created using the finest Scottish ingredients.

Bella Italia - A nice Italian restaurant with an extensive and reasonably priced menu. Good relaxed atmosphere and a good place to eat if you have children.

Cafe 1 - Famous for its good food, polite staff & warm welcome.

Castle Tavern - Serves good ‘pub’ food and a variety of real ales.

Cawdor Tavern - Situated in the village of Cawdor it is a traditional country pub offering bar meals in the lounge or a more formal menu in the restaurant. Great food and worth the short drive.

Cinnamon - Opened in 2003 the Cinnamon restaurant has built a reputation as one of Inverness’s premier Indian restaurants. Specialising in authentic Bangladeshi and Indian cuisine. The Cinnamon combines wonderful food and excellent service in a tasteful relaxed atmosphere.

Contrast Brasserie - The Contrast Brasserie has superb views over the River Ness and during the summer months you can dine alfresco for lunch or dinner.

Corner Grill - A Steakhouse that has a great reputation for its Burgers!!

Girvans - A family run restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Baby changing facilities are also available.

La Tortilla Asesina - Spanish Tapas restaurant offering a selection of 41 dishes – always something to suit everyone’s tastes.

Mavericks - Extensive, great value menu.

Mustard Seed - Situated on the River and is one of Inverness' longest established and exciting restaurants.

Oakwood Restaurant - Situated at Dochgarroch about 10 minutes drive from Inverness this is a "must visit". The food is unpretentious and is cooked to perfection with the best possible local produce. Oakwood is used regularly by locals which is a good indicator of how good the food is!!

Red Pepper - Coffee Shop, Cafe and Sandwich Bar in Church Street offering homemade sandwiches and fresh hot & cold food to eat in, take away or delivered. Outside Catering also available.

Riva - Riva restaurant is situated in the heart of Inverness where you can experience fine Italian cuisine with stunning views of the river and Inverness Castle.

River Cafe & Restaurant - Sitting on the banks of the River Ness the River Cafe and Restaurant offers excellent cuisine made from fresh local ingredients served in a warm and friendly atmosphere with enviable views looking out over the water.

Rocpool Restaurant - A busy city-centre brasserie with sleek contemporary interior, riverside views and an energetic atmosphere.

The Heathmount - A lovely restaurant within a hotel which also houses a good Bar.

The Kitchen - On the River and one of Inverness' newest restaurants.

The Riverhouse - Located on the River and dedicated to sourcing only the finest seasonal and sustainable local produce.

The Steak Academy - Enjoy a steak at the newest Tartan Dining Steakhouse and Wine Bar in Inverness.
